Gareth Lewis
Mace Group Board Director
A director since 2001, Gareth is head of the Mace construction business which encompasses construction management and contracting.
Gareth started his professional career in design and build after a four year BSc in construction technology. He then moved into the construction management field in 1994 when he joined Mace.
On sabbatical from Mace, Gareth was the project director responsible for the Royal Opera House millennium refurbishment in Covent Garden from 1996 to 2000. On completion he rejoined Mace to take operational control of the Merrill Lynch european headquarters project and then the More London development and Terminal 5 project at Heathrow Airport, the largest construction project in Europe.
Gareth's formal construction training together with much project management experience has given him a strong knowledge of the construction process from managing design teams through the design process to procurement, cost control and the construction and close out phases of projects.
Gareth was appointed to the Mace business management board in December 2003 and is also the director responsible for the construction management division.
Gareth was appointed to the Mace Group board in December 2006. He is now director responsible for the construction management, technology and aviation sectors in addition to director with board responsibility for subsidiary businesses mlogic and the Mace Business School.
Gareth is a Fellow of the Chartered Institue of Building and won the bronze award in the Building Manager of the Year awards in 2002.
Gareth lives in Windsor with his wife and children. He enjoys football and cycling in his spare time and cites Ten Tours Cycling at professional level as a personal achievement.
