Mace achieves practical completion on Birmingham's LG Arena

Mace has achieved practical completion on the LG Arena in Birmingham. Formerly the NEC Arena, the venue was officially renamed on 1 September 2008 as part of a sponsorship deal with global electronics giant LG. The £29 million redevelopment has seen the 30 year-old venue transformed into a 21st Century total entertainment experience, with new seating, hospitality, bars, restaurants and other essential customer facilities receiving much-needed modernisation.
The project has been a challenging one for the Mace team delivered in a live, operational environment around a number of major events including the 100th Rotary International Convention and the recent Horse of the Year Show.
Phil Mead, managing director of NEC arenas said: "I would like to express the gratitude of the client for this remarkable achievement; to say that we are elated is an understatement. We always knew that completion in time for Horse of the Year Show was a serious challenge. Nevertheless, from the outset it was clear to me that we had a highly professional, motivated and dedicated project team, who at every stage, have shown their ability to deliver. Practical completion is clearly a product of great talent taking teamwork to the extreme. The team has created a new legacy for the people of the region and we will endeavour to do your work justice through creating an entertaining programme to match."
