Mace looks to score a hat-trick at annual Birmingham awards

19/04/2010

Mace's Paul Dalton has been short listed for the tenth annual Birmingham Young Professional of the Year (BYPY) Award in the property and construction category. Born and bred in Birmingham and with experience that includes time critical and highly visible projects such as Millennium Point, the NEC Arena and the recent Birmingham Gateway development project, Paul is a strong contender for this year's award. If successful this will be the third time Mace has won the award with previous winners Chris Hill taking the prize last year 2009 and Tony Gale in 2007.

The awards have six categories: communications, financial, legal, recruitment and training, property and construction, and entrepreneurial. Paul is one of three short listed candidates in his field going head to head with nominees from MCD Developments and Turner and Townsend. The judging panel, chaired by Michelin-starred chef Glynn Purnell, also included the editor of the Birmingham Post, CEO of the NEC Group, last year's BYPY overall winner and the chairs of both Birmingham Forward and Birmingham Futures.

Mace regional director Simon Dale nominated Paul for this year's award and commented: "Paul was the obvious choice for BYPY 2010. His involvement in many of the cities regeneration projects over the past ten years has seen him play a leading role in shaping the city. Already deemed irreplaceable on the Birmingham New Street project, Paul is admired and respected by everyone he works with."

The BYPY awards will take place on Thursday 27th May at the ICC.
