Mace Technology, the specialist data centre arm of Mace Group, has won a Sword of Honour award from the British Safety Council (BSC) for health and safety works at the Nationwide site in Newbury.

Mace Group's environment, health and safety director, John Hanley said: "The Sword of Honour is considered the major achievement in terms of worldwide health and safety awards and the commitment of the technology team in upholding Mace Group's values in health and safety is recognised and very much appreciated."

The directors responsible for the technology sector, David Williams and Phil Coutts congratulated the team saying: "This award is an excellent demonstration of Mace Group's business excellence standards. The Sword of Honour is widely recognised as the pinnacle of international health and safety awards. We are very pleased to be recognised and to be a part of this elite group. As a result, we hope to help raise health and safety standards both within our business and the wider construction industry."

Project director, Andrew Kayes added: "Receiving this award has cemented our position as leaders in health and safety and demonstrates the investment and hard work all members of the Mace site team have put in to create a truly safe, working environment."

The Sword of Honour is the most prestigious international health and safety accolade that a company can receive, and it is designed to encourage and reward organisations that work to best practice. The Mace technology team will be presented with the Sword of Honour on 27th November at London's Guildsmiths Hall.
