Station Solutions delivers its first project at Guildford Station

09/07/2010

Station Solutions has successfully delivered its first project at Guilford Station for client Stagecoach South West Trains. The part-demolition of disused station buildings and construction of a new retail unit with a maximised footprint was completed and handed over on 5th May 2010, within budget and ahead of schedule. Following the retail company's fit out, a new M&S Simply Food store opened to the travelling public on 7th July 2010. The new retail unit is accessible from the station booking hall as well as from outside the station.

Station Solutions (a trading name of Mace TPT Ltd) is a joint venture between Mace Limited and Travel Point Trading Ltd and combines Mace's wealth of experience in construction management, transportation and project management with TPT's extensive occupational contracts, stations retail and commercial knowledge. This scheme has been nurtured and managed through from concept through to completion by Station Solutions, which was responsible for completing a detailed design, obtaining landlord approval, and managing delivery of the works through to the cross-party handover.

Working with experienced contractor Volker Fitzpatrick Ltd, the rare heritage fountain and memorial plaque were successfully and respectfully relocated to new positions within the station. As part of the works, the landscaping on the station approach was cleared back and replanted with shrubs and additional trees. Deemed a success by the client and all stakeholders, the project was completed with negligible disruption to either the passengers or operational staff.
