Uncover the DNA of the English language with Mace Group and The English Project

06/09/2009

Mace will celebrate English Language Day on the 13 October by hosting a breakfast briefing with Professor Christopher Mulvey, Trustee of The English Project.

Under the headline ‘The English Project: uncovering the DNA of our language' the presentation and discussion promises to be a fascinating introduction into the project's attempts to bring the history, diversity and cultural impact of the English language to life for the audience.

English Language Day symbolizes the survival of English and is a landmark in its development as a world language. Celebrations will be taking place in London and across the UK throughout the day, starting with this talk at the latest Mace Group Breakfast Briefing.

Professor Christopher Mulvey commented: "London English is a very large part of that story and why and how we use English in London will be explored. The talk will explain what the English Project is and how far it has come and close with an outline of its vision for the future."

The English Project is collecting the linguistic DNA of the planet's two billion English speakers to raise awareness of the 7000 varieties of English in one hundred countries, through a variety of activities, collaborations and publications.

The event marks the first of a season of arts and culture events hosted by Ian Eggers, managing director of construction management. Ian commented: "Mace Group has a long history of success in the arts and culture sector. We are very proud to be taking part in English Language Day by hosting this exciting event for our friends and colleagues."

The event is invitation only, for further information contact Mace Group's marketing and communications team via events@macegroup.com.
