Information
Sense Cost Consultancy has worked closely with the College and designers to ensure that the cost of the development is achieved within the AiP budget cost submitted to the LSC. This has involved changing the positions and design of the buildings, however an acceptable scheme has been approved and the work started in February 2008.
The scheme incorporates sustainable construction methods and hopes to obtain a very good BREEAM rating.
The designs have been developed in consultation with the College Senior Management Team and a range of end users to ensure that the project can be completed in a phased manner.
Initial design showed that the scheme was going to exceed the AiP submitted to the LSC. Further consultation with end users enabled decision to be taken to re-site the buildings to save costs and to meet client needs whilst not compromising the needs of the College.
The Sense cost management team have advised on procurement, detailing the routes that could be taken and the implications of each.
Construction is progressing and will complete in May 2009. This will give the College a new Motor Vehicle Building, an extended Sports Centre and a new Catering and Hair and Beauty block and a new reception.
