Information

Mace is assisting Lincolnshire County Council by leading and managing their waste procurement programme to the agreed time, cost and budget. The procurement began in November 2008 and after a two year process, the resulting contract will manage around 150,000 tonnes of waste per year. This contact will have an estimated value £500 million over 25 years.

The procurement process is managed using the Competitive Dialogue procedure. The Council has also secured a suitable location with planning consent for a thermal facility to offer to the market. It is anticipated that the process for selection of preferred bidder will be completed by June 2010.

This project forms a central part of the councils residual waste treatment strategy but there are several associated procurements in the overall waste service programme, including three waste transfer stations.

Effective communication is an important aspect of the project and there has been a well managed campaign. The public have been kept informed by activities such as press articles, local displays and a project team presence at many local events. There has been very little concern throughout the project due to the proactive approach undertaken.
