In 2007, Mace was instructed to manage this 3*+ extension and refurbishment project in Abu Dhabi for Mainland Investment, a subsidiary of The National Investor.

The Mafraq Hotel is a popular 3* plus hotel located in Mafraq, just outside the city of Abu Dhabi and a 10 minute drive from Abu Dhabi International Airport. Currently the hotel comprises 120 keys with facilities including: a leisure club with tennis courts and swimming pool, an all-day dining restaurant, 2 bars and meeting rooms.

The hotel is to be extended to 250 keys with additional ballroom, meeting rooms and F&B. Existing facilities including the swimming pool and back-of-house areas are to be extended alongside the refurbishment and alterations of the existing Hotel and Health Club.

The current form of the Hotel is an L-shape with the reception and entrance area at the centre of the “L”. The swimming pool is located in the centre of the plot with parking and landscaped areas around the outside of the hotel buildings. The design entails: the construction of a separate chalet block and car park to the open side of the plot; relocation of the energy centre; extension of the front wing over the location of the existing energy centre and inclusion of a new ballroom and services entrance area. The main hotel entrance is to be relocated and the reception hub extended outwards to provide additional keys in a G+3 floor extension.
The intention is for the hotel to remain operational during most of the refurbishment and construction works.
