Having won the original appointment on the Garth Hill one school pathfinder in November 2007, the Mace Plus team has now secured the second stage conversion to a fixed price contract and the project team will move to site this month.
The £30m new build secondary school / college for client Bracknell Forest Council was let through the IESE framework (formerly SECE). The existing school building that caters for 950 students will be demolished and the new building that will cater for 1,550 students up to the age of 18 will be built on the existing playing fields.
As 2009 got underway, the Mace Plus management team slightly revised the structure so that all projects now fit under one of two banners: corporate sector for which Neil Scott and Ivan Metcalfe are responsible and public sector which Steve Henley and Paul Martin are responsible for. The Garth Hill project is the first to be converted under the new public sector banner.
